He was born in Thessaloniki, descendent from Chalkidiki.

He received his medical degree from the Medical School of Ioannina in 1983. He also received his specialty from the Orthopaedic Department of the Medical School of the University of Ioannina in 1991. Then, he continued his education as a fellow at the Orthopaedic Department of Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC, USA.

His specialty and main scientific interesting concentrates on the adult reconstructive surgery, which is mainly Total Hip and Knee Replacement.

He applies all modern surgical techniques in Total Hip and Knee Replacements in Degenerative and Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as in the difficult cases of Congenital Dislocation of the Hip.

He uses Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) whenever is in the interest of the patient so as to give the best possible results. He uses the ALMIS - ASI or PMIS procedures for the Total Hip Replacement, which are muscle sparing, and the patient can go at home in a day or two. He uses more than one prosthesis, which fits best in each patient, made of simultaneously the best materials.

In Total Knee Replacement  applies a special technique using “Patient Specific Instruments – PSI” after a CT examination with a special protocol, in order to achieve the best knee prosthesis orientation.

His scientific work accounts hundreds of publications, transactions, lectures, organizing member as well as president of meetings etc in Greece and abroad.
